The Tanzania flag was adopted on October 12, 1954. The upper section is green and the lower section is blue. They are divided by three stripes that extend diagonally from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. Two of the outside stripes are yellow. The inside stripe is black and much thicker.

The Tanzania flag has the ratio 2:3. It was adopted in 1964. The green represents vegetation. The yellow stands for minerals. The blue is for the Indian Ocean, as well as rivers and lakes. The color black stands for the native people.

The capital city is Dodoma, but the largest city is actually Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania flag belongs to a nation whose anthem is “God Bless Africa”. The motto is “Freedom and Unity”.
