The Norway flag was adopted on July 13, 1821. It features a blue Scandinavian Cross, outlined in white, on a red background. The proportions of the rectangle are 22:16.
The Norway flag is also used sometimes along with the Sami flag. The flag is based on the coat of arms of Norway. The oldest flag used featured a lion holding an ax, and was used as far back as the 1300’s.
The Nordic cross in the middle closely resembles the design of Denmark and Sweden. The Norway Flag also shares the colors blue and red with the flags of Denmark and Sweden, nations with it once had partnerships with. Fredrik Meltzer made the design in 1821.
The largest city and capital in the country is Oslo. The Norway flag belongs to a country whose national anthem is “Everything for Norway”.
