The French flag was adopted on February 15th, 1794. It is a tricolor flag of three equal and vertical bars. The three colors are red, white, and blue. The rectangle’s proportions are 2:3.

The French flag has the ancient colors of Paris, which are red and blue. The color white was requested Lafayette, the Commander of the Guard. The colors are thought to represent three main estates of the Ancient Regime. The white represents clergy, the red represents the nobility, the blue represents the bourgeoisie.

Other versions have existed during the course of the nation’s history. One such example of a French flag was the “Île-de-France”, which depicted three fleur de lis. Other variants included the Standard of King Louis XIV.

The largest city and capital city of the country is Paris. The Italian flag belongs to a country whose national motto or slogan is “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity”.
