The Colorado flag was designed in 1911 by Andrew Carlisle Johnson. The banner is made up of three horizontal bars of equal size. They are blue, white, and blue. A red “C” is located slightly left of center, and is filled in with a yellow disc.

The color blue symbolizes the skies. The yellow disc stands for the sun. The color red on the Colorado flag represents the earth. The white stands for the snowy mountains.
